After tallying the votes, we are thrilled to announce that Geea is the winner of the 2006 There Fashion Challenge. Geea will receive the 1st-place prize package, which includes a Dell laptop. Congratulations, Geea, and well done! Our 2nd-place winner is Mariesa, who will be the recipient of a shiny new video iPod. And our 3rd-place winner is Shaeri, who will walk away with a very fun Sony PSP.

We would like to thank all 12 designers for their participation in this terrific event. All the work was of exceptional quality and really displayed each designer's own personal design sensibility.

2006 Fall Fashion Showcase

To celebrate the conclusion of this summer's There Fashion Challenge we'd like to invite all of our talented clothing designers to participate in an upcoming Fall Fashion Showcase. This is the perfect opportunity to promote your fall clothing items. Here's what you can do to participate:

  • Create and submit as many Fall Fashion items as you wish.
  • Put the word "fall" in each auction description.
  • Submit your items by next Tuesday, August 22.

Your items will be included, along with those of other designers, in a special Designer Showcase that will be promoted on There Central, ThereCare, the Forums, the Friday, 8/25 edition of the There Fun Times, on the There Fashion Challenge web site, and at the Fashion Challenge After-Party on Friday, 8/25.

We'd also like to give you plenty of opportunity to promote your own items as well. A great way to start is to join the TFC Designers and Models Club. There are plenty of models in this club who would love to help model your designs in a fashion show!.

Speaking of fashion shows, we will be opening the Fashion Stage at Inlet Watch for hosting starting Saturday, 8/19. We encourage you to set up your own fashion shows to feature your fall fashion creations in-world.

Not a There designer yet? Get started now by joining our Developer Program. It's a great way to have fun creating your own fashion designs and you can earn T$ by selling them to other members in the Auctions!

Design Challenge #7 - The Finale!

Of the twelve very talented designers who started the There Fashion Challenge in June, three have made it to the finale. Their designs have been consistently high quality and they have proven to be versatile designers.  Now it’s time to take things to the next level. The following challenge was issued to our three finalists:

The theme of the finale is Fall Fashion.  Temperatures might still be soaring, but seemingly within the blink of an eye, the leaves will start to change and it will be time for students of all ages to head back to school.  Fall signifies both the end of summer and the end of the There Fashion Challenge.

With this in mind, your task for the Finale Challenge is to produce a mini-collection of fall clothing.  For this challenge, you will be creating women’s wear only. Specifically, you will need to create three (3) complete outfits – top, bottom, and shoes – that work together as a collection.  All design choices (colors, styles, templates) are entirely up to you.  Each finalist has a unique style, so you should make outfits that you think best represent your own personal design sensibility.

The rules are as follows:

1) The work for this contest must be new designs that have not been previously submitted or seen publicly.

2) All submissions must adhere to the guidelines of There's Developer Program.  We will not tolerate copyright infringement of any kind, and any violations will result in removal from the contest.  When in doubt, rethink your design and/or find another solution.

3) You will need three female models for this challenge.  Don’t forget to submit the names of your models to us by Wednesday night, 8/16, so we can make preparations for the runway event.

Submission Deadline:  You must finish your work and submit your designs to There no later than Wednesday, August 16th, at Noon Pacific.  Failure to submit the required items for this challenge by the deadline will result in disqualification from the contest.  Just do the best you can, and remember, everyone else is under the same time pressure you are.

Secondary Deadline:  After you have submitted your designs, please follow up before Noon Pacific on Friday, August 18th, with 1-2 paragraphs describing your approach to the challenge and what you were trying to accomplish with your designs.  As usual, this text will be used on the web site, along with the pictures of your designs, so that voters can have insight into your approach to the task.  Please send this to us via email at fashionchallenge@there.com.  You will also use this description to talk about your designs during the runway event.

Runway Event:  The runway event for this challenge will take place on Friday, August 18th.  The pre-show set-up and rehearsal begins at 6pm Pacific/9pm Eastern.  Please be prompt.

Voting:  Voting will begin shortly after the runway event on August 18th and will be open until 6pm Pacific on Monday, August 21st.  The community will be asked to judge your work based on the overall creativity of the designs, the detail of the textures, and how well your designs work together as a fall collection.  The designer who is ranked in first place at the end of the voting period will be our grand prize winner (1st place prize package), the designer who is ranked in second place will win the 2nd-place prize package, and the designer who is ranked in third place will win the 3rd-place prize package.  The results will be announced on the official contest web site no later than Friday, August 25th.

Best of luck to you!  We are tremendously excited to see your designs!

Design Challenge #6 - And Then There Were 3!

The five remaining There Fashion Challenge designers were tasked last week with creating both male and female gold medalist jackets for the upcoming There Summer Games (August 13th-31st). The Games bring Thereians together to celebrate sportsmanship and camaraderie as they compete in fun activities ranging from timed races to trivia. This challenge is of particular significance, because it determines which of the designers advance to the TFC finale.

We have tallied the votes and are thrilled to announce that Geea has won the There Games challenge.  Not only will her contest designs become the official gold medalist jackets of the There Summer Games, but she will create bronze and silver versions as well. This means that Geea will advance to the finale round of the There Fashion Challenge. We are also very pleased to announce that she will be joined by Mariesa and Shaeri.

Unfortunately, this means that Disky and Elaur are out of the competition. They have had a great run in the TFC and have created some truly wonderful work. At this stage of the contest, it is particularly hard to lose people, and we wish that everyone could be a finalist. Thanks to Disky and Elaur for their fine work and participation in the TFC.

Our three finalists - Geea, Mariesa, and Shaeri - have received their instructions for the final challenge.  They will be competing for the three prize packages in the TFC Finale show on August 18th. Check back later today for all the details!
